In todays face paced world going to the store is becoming a thing of the past. Consumers are able to purchase things online and have them arrive at their door as early as the next day, leaving their free time open to spend with friends and family rather than running around town looking for something they want or need. But the one thing holding Best Buy back from increasing their online sales is their website. It less than unappealing to the eye, and its’ format is dated. What Best Buy needs is a savvy web designer to re-design their website and some fresh add campaigns to bring in online traffic. The best kind of a website is one with a simple clean design, but Best Buy has made simple boring. Their layout mimics a template available on many website design programs, and lacks a sense of high-tech up-to-date look that viewers are drawn to. First they must create a team of website designers to help them connect with todays trends and their potential customers desires. According to salary.com the average rate of a web designer is $34 an hour, with a team of five to seven designers this project is well within Best Buy’s means. Once the team is assembled they need to sit down with the company’s executives to hear what is important to them when portraying Best Buy to keep its company roots intact. Then the designers must speak with Best Buy employees both in corporate and in-store, this will give them a well-rounded view of what the website is lacking from an employee standpoint. And lastly the team should consult the consumers; the customers’ opinions are of the highest importance because, they are the ones spending their hard earned money.
