When looking at the courses of action the best practice is to maintain the information to be kept confidential what happens in a counseling session remains private. The best course of action would be to talk to the client in a private session about why they have not completed their homework. By doing so this would allow the counselor and client to talk about why the homework was assigned and is important. The client then can discuss their issues with the homework and why they have not been completing it. Doing this would also allow the counselor and client to communicate and have an understanding amongst each other. By communicating this would allow both the counselor and client to keep their relationship professional.

Implement the Course of Action

When implementing the course of action, it would involve a conversation between Wilma and Donna. The problems cannot only hurt the counselor but the client in the long run. With the dilemma above we see a counselor who believes their client is not being responsible for not completing the homework that they assigned to them. When the counselor has decided to deal with the situation they decide to say something to the client at work which breaks so many ethical guidelines from confidentiality to privacy which is the most important part of having clients. With writing this paper it has made me think of ways to handle situations so that they remain ethical and professional.
