The American Revolutionary War was a war fought from 1775-1783, also known as the American War of Independence, between the Kingdom of Great Britain and the thirteen colonies. The colonies wanted independence and free from British rule. In order to gain their independence the colonies had to fight for it.
Along with the British raising taxes, they also started making Americans allow British soldiers to live in their houses. The British government elected people in England to be the lawmakers and the Americans felt like the people in England would not understand their needs. British policies established in 1763-1776 greatly affected the colonists and pushed them towards developing their own republican values. All of the acts and taxes the British issued and how overly controlling the British were over the colonists was the starting point, also the increasing rebellions encouraged the colonists to break away from Britain’s rule, and finally the wars that resulted and seizing authority from the British was the final turning point for the colonists in eliminating Britain’s heavy-handed ruling over the colonists. The acts, and taxes that came with most of the acts, that the English imposed on the colonists was a substantial reason the colonists opposed British rule. The American Revolution The French and Indian War impacted the American Revolution in many ways. Britain incurred a large debt from the cost of the war and the taxes that they imposed on the colonists created feelings of anger and rebellion that led to the revolution. As a result of the French and Indian war, the British were not at full strength which allowed the actions of the colonists to be more effective. Because of the outcome of the war, France was willing to help the colonists. Without the much needed help from the French the colonist may have never won the war.
really wanted to gain independence from Great Britain. There were some people in the U.S. called loyalist that wanted to live under the tyranny of Great Britain and had no problems with the raising of taxes to support their country. The Patriots on the other hand were very much against all that the British stood for. The battle of Lexington and Concord, the battle of Trenton, and the battle of Yorktown were three key battles won by the U.S. that pushed the outcome of the war in the favor of the United States. The battle of Yorktown was the most significant it was the last major battle on land and with the surrender of Lord Charles Cornwallis it was very pivotal in the defeat of the British.
During the first years of the English settlements of North America the people who immigrated from England they formed colonies that with the support of the British government. The colonist didn 't pay a lot of taxes on their trading benefits to the government. Through the years, the King and the parliament started raising taxes on almost everything that the colonist was producing in the colonies. The colonists weren 't happy with the new taxation that the king was charging to the colonies, and it led the colonist to protest at British empire. There are several reasons why the colonists revolted against the British government.
The people of America (colonists) were tired of being controlled by England. They wanted to be free and independent. They believed that they were able to control themselves and be their own country. They wanted England to let go of their control and to view them as independent and their own country.
The United States won its independence for Great Britain during the Revolutionary War. America struggled to get the advantage, but eventually was able to win the war. In the beginning it proved difficult to even acquire the troops necessary to fight a war. The troops they got had no adeptness for fighting. They struggled throughout the war and at times their chances for success looked bleak.
What Caused the American Revolution The American Revolution was a battle for leadership in the American colonies. At the time, England controlled nearly all aspects, mostly the political and economic, of the colonial lives. Their purpose was to strengthen England. The colonies wanted the freedom from all of the control because they were doing fine without England.
They had reached their breaking point and decided to write the Declaration of Independence and finally declare war on England. If it wasn’t for this document, we would not be here today, enjoying amazing freedoms in this beautiful country that we are so lucky to call
Once the British and Colonist ideals were not the same(Document 2) this gave better reason and a model to not follow when pursuing independence. My favorite time period is during the American Civil War and Reconstruction of the South because it was the first federal step towards equality. It legally ended slavery, in rebelling states in the south, and caused a great amount of effort from the federal government to give African- Americans rights. While the reconstruction didn't end up the way Abraham wanted it to it still helped the African- Americans have more freedom than before. It was the first time that African Americans could show how wealthy they trulls were to have equal rights and freedoms like everyone else. This is my favorite period in history because i find it very interesting how a group pf people was oppressed for so long and became free only to have it take decades to
