"Soul Surfer” is a book written by Bethany Hamilton, Rick Bundschuh, and Sheryl Berk. The book shows the struggles of Bethany Hamilton, a 14-year-old Surfer from Kauai. Hamilton is inspiring Surfer, but when a shark it off her arm in a brutal attack, she had to rely on faith, strength, and sheer persistence to get back in the water. The trials that Bethany Hamilton had to go through has inspired me in many ways, it has shown me that no matter what happens to you, you have to keep moving forward, no matter what happens. Hamilton showed me that setbacks in life are going to come, and those setbacks might be large or small. Bethany Hamilton serves as an inspiration to America's youth, challenging them fight on even when the times are tough, to sell on even though their ship is in a storm and taking water, to take whatever life throws at you and turn it into glory. Senator Mitch McConnell Unintentionally described her perfectly. On the Senate floor, to reprimand a senator he said, "nevertheless, she persisted.” That quote summarized her. She was a young woman who kept moving in the face of an unbearable obstacle. Bethany would say, "courage, sacrifice, determination, commitment, populace, heart, talent, guts. That's what little girls are made of; the heck with sugar and spice.” this had to inspire young girls everywhere! No matter what they do, young women and all women in fact, have had to use all of those qualities to battle through the brutal truth of our world. Once Bethany got back into the water after her injury, she did not go back to the way she was before immediately. Bethany would have to train, and train to use her one arm to become a great surfer again. Hamilton would find herself in Parelist moments where she would question her purpose and wanting to surf.
