The treatment plan that I would suggest for Betina and Sebastian would be very similar as they both involve positive reinforcement, token reinforcement, and social reinforcement. Both patients can benefit from positive reinforcement and social reinforcement as providing them with optimistic feedback reassures the patients that they are progressing and will encourage more of the positive behaviors. The token economy technique provides extra incentive and heightens the experience and association with the desired behavior for the patient, therefore increasing the likelihood that the patients will adopt the positive behaviors that we are seeking. It is also essential to identify the triggers and any underlying issues that cause the patients to react negatively and to provide them with the techniques to cope. In Sebastian’s case, it would be important to equip him with relaxation techniques to aid in controlling his anger. Sebastian’s treatment plan differs slightly from Betina’s because, if necessary, I would also suggest that the positive punishment technique be implemented by administering a low-voltage, yet, annoying shock if Sebastian does not apply the techniques learned and becomes enraged.
