Hodjat is created to express the unfair discrimination of poorer individuals in Iran. He isn't taken seriously by the judge in court as he expresses " my problem is that I cant speak like them" this statement depicts hodjats humiliation and frustration for the political conditions. Farhadi has demonstrated that in modern-day Iran, those in lower-class are always unacknowledged of their request and are unfairly judged leading to their rights taken away from them due to society's prejudice. farhadi has used cheaper and simplistic costuming for Hodjat versus Nader who is presented in a minimalistic yet chic manner .
