When the grouchy woman stares at Linas drawing she sees of what great potential she has and might think it is very realistic. When the grouchy woman said to Lina to keep her slip she is referring to how Lina is giving her a piece of clothing as in return to the grouchy woman for taking the letter into the city and the woman says that it's okay she doesn't have to give anything back to her. I believe that this is a very important part of the quote because the grouchy woman is doing a favor for Lina and is not interested in something in return. This shows that she cares for Lina and that she will send the letter out with no returns. Likewise, when Elena got very ill everybody tried their best to make her feel better and show the support that she is loved and not alone. Later on, Elena's children have been trying their best to make their mother feel
