No artist relevant to this day has come close to as many as Beyoncé. However, Beyonce’s accolades don’t stop there. Beyonce is a trailblazer for not only her accolades and awards, but for her innovative rollout of her music, she released one album called Beyoncé as a digital album, without any prior promotion, and on a Friday. Time writes, “The decision to create a visual album that had to be purchased in full was key to the album’s success.” Beyoncé, knowing the negatives of digital albums, still took the chance to release one. She gained the success by not giving people the option to purchase any singles since she didn’t release any beforehand. This leaves fans with no other option than to just purchase the album and listen to it as a whole. Along with the digital album, Beyoncé also revolutionized different ways of releasing these albums. In 2013, Beyoncé released that same album without giving any advanced report of an album coming out. Veronica Chambers claims, “Beyoncé released her self-titled fifth album in the early morning hours, exclusively on the iTunes Store, without any prior promotion or announcement.” The surprise release was really successful and became the No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Beyoncé took the risk with the surprise release. Obviously fans didn’t know it was coming, which meant most people wouldn’t be able to find out about it unless they were on iTunes on a regular basis. Not only did Beyoncé release the album without any prior announcement, but she also released the album on a Friday. Time states once again, “The album was a marked departure from industry norms, from its surprise release with no advance promotion to its early Friday morning drop, which flouted the usual Tuesday album release date convention.” Releasing it on Friday meant Beyoncé only had four days as opposed to seven.
