Beyoncé nearly broke the internet after releasing her self- titled fifth album “Beyoncé” without any warning. She did the unheard of and dropped an album without any promotion whatsoever. She created a new image after a hiatus from the music world and in her own fashion, showed everyone she was back and ready perform. She had many hits including “Pretty Hurts,” and “Drunk in Love”. This album also saw her new image reboot with sexy hits such as “Partition” and “Blow.” She brought in themes of Feminism and self-love along with these hits and showed her true stance with the matters as an intersectional feminist. She particularly set the mark with the song “**Flawless” Ft. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a Nigerian writer who is well known for her feminist writing and TEDtalks. When this album came out in 2013, there was a rise in celebrities coming out as feminists and this is how Beyoncé did it. With this album, she tried to erase some of the negative connotations brought along with feminism and with the sexually liberated women. Beyoncé pairs a catchy beat and sharp lyrics to make a banger while also making a political statement. In her lyrics, she states “I took some time to live my life/ but don’t think I’m just his little wife” she is clearly referencing her husband, Jay-Z’s career. They recently had a child not too long before this album and she took some time to adjust becoming a mother, she came back and made it clear she wasn’t riding on her husband’s coattails. This is a direct hit to the critics of working mothers who say that they can’t be mothers and businesswomen at the same time and be successful as both. She uses repetition in the song as one of the main tools in the composition. She previously stated that flawless is not looking physically perfect to society’s standards, but being comfortable in your own skin and
