Many novels and movies have been made throughout history, impacting the world in the greatest way possible. Although both are presented in different mediums; one is on the big screen and the other is read in the palm of your hands but they may also have similarities in content. An example of this is, the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and the movie Bicentennial Man directed by Chris Columbus. Both the novel and movie show how somebody's desire to be loved and accepted can take them through different paths in life. Throughout the novel Frankenstein a big part of this theme is in relation to the creature. The creature was created by Victor Frankenstein yet, being the one person who could have shown the creature the compassion that he desired Victor ran away from the creature in horror. Everywhere the creature went he wanted to be accepted, but the people would just see him for his countenance and run away, but they did not see him for what he was on the inside. Bicentennial Man is based upon a android named Andrew. Andrew is one of numerous but there is something about Andrew that makes him different from all the rest. He is unique, Andrew spends his time helping his human family and creating beautiful wooden clocks.Some would say that he already has love and acceptance from his family but Andrew long's not just the acceptance of the people that care for him but of the rest of human society. He wants to be accepted for who he is as stated in the movie, “To be acknowledged for who and what I am, no more, no less. Not for acclaim, not for approval, but, the simple truth of that recognition. This has been the elemental drive of my existence, and it must be achieved, if I am to live or die with dignity.”(Bicentennial
