Juvenile delinquency has been one of the leading problems in the U.S. What many of us do not know is that there are many programs that help with preventing juvenile delinquency. One of those programs is called, “Big Brother Big Sisters of America.” Juveniles ranging from 18-20 of age, commit three times as many more crimes than people over 21 years of age. I believe, that juveniles that do not have a good, or healthy relationship with their parents are more likely to grow up and commit crimes. They will go out and look for attention elsewhere and eventually get into trouble. Big Brothers Big Sisters of America was founded in the early 20th century. Another thing that interests me is that they actually take the time to train the volunteer, they do not just automatically trust the person to do their job. The way this program works is the mentors meet with their matched youth at least three times a monthI for 3 to 5 hours to participate in activities that the child is interested in. I personally think that is a great amount of time given to that child. I live with with both my parents, and honestly, we do not go out as often as the youths in this program are. Going out and participating in activities that they both enjoy is a great way to get a juvenile delinquent to set their minds straight. They can be out playing a friendly soccer game with a few friends, and the youth might discover that he or she is very good at it, then they will gain interest in wanting to join a soccer team. With that being said, joining sports is also a great way to keep juveniles out of trouble. Apart from the meet ups they have, the program also includes regular, scheduled visits and phone conversations among the mentor, the parent, and the
