Since I was young, I loved seeing women with short hairstyles. I dreamed of chopping my hair short many times but I kept waiting for the right age. I always acknowledged the pixie cut so for sure that had to be my first style. For my 20th birthday I was going to cut my hair. Due to the ridiculous insecurities and thoughts I had I didn’t. Another year past and for my 21st birthday I did the chop at Addicted Salon owned by Rachel. My hair was relax, jet black and the sides was very short but slightly longer on top, with the top and the sides blending perfectly. To maintain this style took time every day. It was only a matter of time. I decided to challenge myself and change my presentation once again. On Tuesday, February 28th I took a stop by Top of The Line barber shop in the afternoon. A few people were in front of me so I sat and played candy crush meanwhile. At 5.00 pm it was my turn. By 5:30 I had a sharp fresh Mohawk cut. There I was standing in the mirror with a new look, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry and I couldn’t stop touching it. I actually felt happy and excited with the cut. When I arrived at work on Tuesday everyone facial expression changed. Excited and happy as I was they were all clapping and making noise. All eyes were on me, everyone was starring. I got all positive responses from them. The supervisor first response was” Wooooow, who cut your hair” and her face was in a state a shock but she began to smile after. Some of my co-workers said “This look is beautiful”, “Nikki, I like it”, “It looks nice” and the comments went on and on.
