In the painting “Jamestown Lifescape” Keith Rocco uses precise details to convey the theme that cooperation and unity are indispensable to the survival of a thriving community. For instance, citizens are rolling the barrels of goods to the ships in order to send the supplies to other lands. The people of Jamestown are using teamwork by rolling the barrels to sell/distribute stock to other countries in order to sustain an economy by trading goods. To keep a strong economy, countries must maintain healthy relationships with other countries. To demonstrate, residents are working as a whole to finish construction, and keep the town growing.
Dave Cullen, had published Columbine ten years after this tragic event had occurred. Two of the students at columbine high school, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, had decided to try and create one of the biggest chaos’s trying to take out over 400 people. This school shooting took place in April of 1999, with 13 dead and around 24 wounded. This event had the country shook, having been one of the most well-known school shootings. In parts one and two of the book, Columbine, written by Dave Cullen, he creates suspense by the way he structures his writing, even though majority of the audience reading is aware of the outcome of this event.
“The Fish” written by Elizabeth Bishop has characteristics that could be compared to the Holocaust. The narrator of “The Fish” describes the fish as possessing human characteristics such as being beautiful and having a “life story”. During the Holocaust the Nazis’ mostly thought of the prisoners of concentration camps as only prisoners, however a few saw the prisoners as people with backgrounds, families, and souls. The overall opinion that the Nazis’ had towards the prisoners and the way the narrator views the fish are easily comparable.
“A big fish in a little” means ‘an important person in a relatively unimportant place’. When Henry Fleming was a kid, he always dreamed to be a hero in the war like heroes in the old Greek story, and he wants to be a hero until his first battle. Before the battle, he was excited to defeat enemies and lead troops to the win, but it did not happen, unfortunately He just ran away from battle. However, the first battle taught him what is the real war and the life. “The youth ~ made weird and satanic effects.”
Throughout history groups have worked together to profit and develop relations. In Asia the countries and groups of people developed the Silk Road, in Rome, the districts owned by the lords that governed them worked with the roman emperor to create a road system. But, these countries who have worked together have sometimes manipulated each other and took advantage of each other. Therefore, when groups work together they can create positive ideas, but in the end have negative outcomes.
Through the use of several stylistic devices including imagery, simile, metaphor, and personification, she emphasizes her concern for the new government. Starting her paragraph with a phrase that describes men as dangerous creatures, she establishes the idea of male hostility using zoomorphism, a technique where humans are assigned animalistic characteristics. By writing “dangerous creature” (Adams 229), she represents men as barbaric and perhaps irrationally or inhumanly destructive forces the way animals present a danger to humans. In the next sentence, Adams writes how “great fish swallow up the small” (Adams 229), illustrating male ruthlessness with this metaphor. Comparing the only members of society with power during her time - white men - to hungry fish with an insatiable want for more, she represents how this weakness could ultimately prove detrimental to their new system of government.

During times of instability, the “influence” that once brought people together is long forgotten, people only look out for themselves. This stimulates the division of like people and as a result, the community struggles. She examines every person around her to make sense of her thoughts and values and to find her place in the world.
Blackfish The documentary Blackfish, directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite released in July 2013, explores the mistreatment of killer whales and the relationship between the killer whales and trainers as well as the significant problems of the sea-park industry, with a focus upon SeaWorld. Cowperthwaite positions the audience to feel sympathy towards the killer whales by making deliberate choices in sound, visual, language, and structure through the representation of trainers as unprofessional, and whales as mistreated, also experts as reliable information source. Firstly, Cowperthwaite uses effective language techniques to position the audience to view the trainers as undertrained and unprofessional.
Amy Tan uses imagery in the short story “Fish Cheeks” in order to let the reader feel the way Amy felt at the table on Christmas Eve. For example, in the story it states, “ My relatives licked the ends of their chopsticks and reached across the table dipping them into the dozen or so plates of food.” This explains that Amy felt embarrassed that her family wasn’t realizing the fact that they had no manners at the table. Amy was completely embarrassed with the fact that, that was the way her family had acted while they ate. Everyone is put into a situation where they wished their parents or family members had not acted the way they did in front of them, and Amy Tan writing this story makes you remember those times.
And those above, seeing that those people are following the order, have to provide the workers with a “shield” of protection in return. Such slogans “form part of the panorama of everyday life. Of course, while they ignore the details, people are very aware of that panorama as a whole. And what else is the greengrocer 's slogan but a small component in that huge backdrop to daily life?” And this panorama a person has in his mind forms the ideology, which has been brought to him.
Also, the fish represent the obstacles that one may face while trying to reach their goal and shaping their ability to achieve it. This ultimately challenges them to decide whether to accept the task and grow or abandon their dreams by giving up. Reynolds compares the fish struggling to survive outside of its habitat to “those of us from raging waters and crashing waves, beached, but trying desperately to breathe.” He is comparing humans to sea life essentially, using symbolism in order to evoke empathy from the graduates in order for them to understand what life might feel like for people who are less privileged. Overall, he is teaching the lesson that whether humans see it or not, there are often people who struggle with poverty, inequality, or a variety of issues, but are commonly neglected. This is why Reynolds is using his speech to spread awareness that humans need to step up and help those in need, using their privilege that others may not have. Continuing with this message, Reynolds uses the analogy of a bird to describe those who are less fortunate, saying, “There are those of us whose wings have been clipped.”
