Are the rappers in this generation truly great at what they do? To compare the greatest rappers of all time and the ones today, many people can see multiple qualities the greatest rappers have, that the rappers of today do not. When you look at the best rappers of all time, they all share flow, origin, and the best beats in their songs to truly stand above all.
In order to be an honorable rapper, he or she must have flow of words in the songs that they make. A ideal example of what flow is supposed to be is Biggie Smalls. His song “Hypnotized” is a smooth flowing song with every word that he says is always on beat the whole time. “ Never lose, never choose to, bruise crews who do something to us, talk go through us Girls walk to us, wanna do us, screw us, Who us?” Being great at making words flow is what made Biggie an all time artist back in the day. Many rappers have both if the characteristics mentioned above, but what builds those features is their origin. Having origin gives them determination and a motivation to succeed. Rae Sremmurd is a group who came from the poor and recently started becoming big. As they move up in fame they never lose sight of where they came from and why they got to the point that they are at. This helps them repeatedly make music without straying to far from who they are. Another example of true origin is Ice Cube and his rise from poverty. Since then cube always stayed true to himself and do what he believes is right. Having this determination shows that Cube can get through anything and produce anything knowing people will like it. The final example is Childish Gambino. Gambino also came from a poor life and although he is not as big in fame, he still is thankful for what he has and always raps to his full potential. Rapping for a long time, Gambino’s story has not been separated with him and the fame he has. Showing that he can handle fame and keep his true personality with
