Encourage Citi Bike to promote electric bikes and select areas near subway stations to build more parking spaces for bicycles. The practice will provide various advantages such as saving people more time using different kinds of transportations, improve their safety and decrease greenhouse gas emissions. Issues In an attempt to reduce traffic congestions and gas emissions in New York City, the government has implemented several bike strategies throughout the years. Also, some city’s projects caused terrible influences to the public such as building bike lanes that blocking people across the street. To solve the problem, the Bike Master Plan the Ninth Avenue Bike Lane Project. By creating a safe space between bike lanes and car lanes, the project managed to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicle drivers. However, people criticized the plan by pointing social benefits generated couldn’t cover the cost. In 2012, the government, partnering up with Citi Group, introduced a bike share program. Despite its success, people were worried about safety and financial issues of the program. All the projects have failed to solve the problem of security.
