The whole world now runs on computers. There are many different types of companies like Apple, and Sony that are involved in this industry. One of the most famous companies has turned an upper middle class man into the richest man in the world. Bill Gates was born in Seattle Washington and fell in love with computers in his teen years. Bill Gates should be remembered because he has changed the world, created something that a lot of people use, and he has helped with poverty and polio. Bill Gates was raised in a very caring family that was very close. William Henry Gates III was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle Washington. He pursued his passion in law, but freshman year he saw more interest in computers (“Bill Gates Biography” par. 9). Him and his old friend Paul Allen kept in touch. They both loved computers so that started to make small programs. Pretty soon companies started to hear things about Bill and Paul. They got asked to run a computer, but they did not have the code and program to do it. The president of the company asked for a demonstration. They started to write code at the Harvard Computer Lab (“Bill Gates Biography” par. 10). Bill and Paul got a deal for their program and they made their first program for a microcomputer when he was only 19. He wanted to make softwares for all types of companies (Demuth 39, 39). With a career like this there are a lot of career challenges. There were a lot of other companies that had to compete with. Other companies like Apple, Radio Shack, and Commodore were also in the person computer business. Bill handled the sales calls, coding, and business part of the company. They did not want to keep on making more versions of Microsoft. Instead of a second version of Microsoft programs he made an operating system called Windows. He worked long hours about 16 hours a day (Lesinski 28, 29, 38). After Bill stepped down as CEO he wanted to help the world in others ways not just with the technology
