Set one Number One Success is one thing and luck is another, but both has deep roots with one another. Gladwell gives examples of how Bill Gates became successful due to luck. The most important factor to their success was not just their luck, but also their "extraordinary opportunities" (Gladwell, p55). Luck plays a big role in success and how Gladwell proves this theory is an example about Bill gates. Bill was fortunate to be born into a wealthy family who values education, so he was sent to a private school. At the time no one knew not even Bill that his countless hours of practicing programming was contingent on his future success. Gladwell also gives the example on how the Beatles becomes successful. The Beatles were just a struggling high school rock band which an extraordinary opportunity was presented to them. They were offered to play in Hamburg, Germany in a strip club called Indra. They sounded bad and were getting very bad pay, but they were gaining something far more important than money. It was hours. Hours to practice on stage which they developed new skills and made their current skills more professional. They eventually got to the point where their music became equivalent or even better than current musicians at the time. That opportunity that was presented to the Beatles was the concrete to their success.
