“Microsoft was founded based on my vision of a personal computer on every desk and in every home all running Microsoft software” Bill Gates In the 20th century, the world was falling back on technology. There weren’t many large companies sprouting up and there was a desperate need for one. October 28, 1955 was the date that the co-founder of Microsoft was born, Bill Gates, although he didn’t know it just yet (“Bill Gates Biography”). Bill Gates was born in Seattle, Washington to Mary Maxwell and William H. Gates, his loving parents(“Bill Gates Biography”). This fact is the main reason of Bill’s worldwide fame. Microsoft began when Paul and Bill read a magazine based on computers titled “Project Break Through” (Craig 17). The magazine focused on someone making computer chip (Craig 17). Bill quickly sprung to say that he wanted to take part in this discovery (Craig 17). Paul and Bill got in touch with Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry System (MITS) and told them that they could write a computer program running on Altair 8800 called BASIC (Craig 18). MITS was thrilled but soon realized that Bill and Paul didn’t even have an Altair 8800 (Craig 18). Rejection from MITS didn’t stop Bill and Paul from persevering. (Craig 18). So, using the information on the Altair 8800 Bill and his knowledge wrote the code for the BASIC program (Craig 18). Paul flew to New Mexico to MITS to show them the computer language that Bill had wrote. MITS was impressed and wanted their software. After a while, Paul moved to New Mexico and MITS hired him (Craig 18). The duo still remained in contact and worked together occasionally(Craig 18).
