Without William Henry Gates III (Bill Gates), much of the world today, as we know it, would not be a reality. Bill Gates is currently the world’s richest man; this makes him one of the most influential people in the entire world. Bill is very invested in charity, he has pledged to donate more than ninety-five percent of his wealth to charity. Gates practically initiated the home computers using his revolutionary software. Bill’s company Microsoft even assisted Apple in writing the software that I am using to write this report. Gates essentially had a ‘hand in’ at every potentially great technology company.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus has affected over thirty-three million people all around the world. Gates’ foundation he started with his wife is putting its best effort in with research to public relations with victims (HIV is not highly contagious). To a much lesser extent, Gates has accomplished much with his software companies including Microsoft. He invented Windows and revolutionized the home computing era. This all started when Gates dropped out of college to write BASIC for one of the first Altair computers. He has provided affordable means of accessing the Internet for educational purposes to kids all around the world who cannot afford it. This is a commodity compared to the other goals of the foundation but in my opinion is equally important. Bill Gates was a very smart person from the start; he was the genius behind a genius tech start-up company. Gates scoring a one thousand five hundred ninety out of one thousand six hundred on his SATs definitely supports the argument that he aced school. Gate is smart because he is not spending his fortune on material things but he is spending it on improving the lives of the less fortunate people in this world. It has shown me not to be selfish with my knowledge of computer but to share it and try to teach people. This book has inspired me to help promote digital freedom for those that have been bound in digital shackles. This book has inspired me to protest against digital censorship. I have been inspired to help others gain the freedoms that they may not have on the Internet. For example in North Korea, there are only about 10 government certified websites that people can access. Though I think piracy is wrong, but the Stop Online Piracy Act (bill) (SOPA) is definitely not the way to do it. I do agree that there should be some system in place, but not one that will block access to websites hosted outside of the United States.
