Bill Nye the Nervous Guy!
Hey guys! Im Bill, and I am going to talk to you about the nervous system! Let's get right into it! The nervous system is the system of your body that coordinates actions and transmits signals to all parts of your body. Without the nervous system, we wouldn't feel pain. Your nerve cords are reaction to actions, while transmitting signals that is telling your body that you are in pain. Vertebrates are made up of two main parts of the nervous system, the Central Nervous System, and the Peripheral Nervous System. The Central Nervous System is made up of the brain and spinal cord, and the Peripheral Nervous System is made up of mostly nerves, “which are enclosed bundles of the long fibers or axons, that connect the CNS to every other part of the body”. In total, the nervous system makes up the brain, spinal cord, sensory organs, then we get into nerve fibers, which branch of and consist of the neck and arms, torso, legs, skeletal muscles and internal organs.

Nerves that transmit signals from the body to the Central Nervous System are called sensory. Some nerves serve both functions and are called mixed nerves. “The PNS is divided into a) Somatic b) Autonomic nervous system c) The enteric nervous system. Somatic nerves mediate voluntary movement.” Nerves that exit through cranium are called cranial and other nerves that exit through the spinal cord are called spinal nerves. Hopefully your are getting a sense of how the nervous system works, an action has happened to your body and the nerve cords are sensing it while transmitting signals all over your body to send signals that you are in pain. This is a very complex system and includes the brain, which goes very in depth on how the nervous system is connected to your
