If a person has no recollection of their life before or their family and friends how do they know, who they are? That's the question Jenna Fox has been asking since she woke up. That is since she has been in a coma, a yearlong coma. Her father Mathew Fox is an owner of a biotech company and an inventor of Bio gel. In The Adoration of Jenna Fox, he had to make the decision between life and death. He chose to save his daughter by utilizing his own invention Bio gel to stimulate her incipient limbs and organs, but his decision came with uncertainty and consequences. However, her father had a solution that would not only affect her, but everyone close to her. Mathew Fox decided to utilize his own invention Bio gel to stimulate her limbs and organs by taking skin samples and growing them in a lab. Mathew Fox was prosperous in fully reconstructing her body with Bio gel. Bio gel was condensed oxygenated gel filled with neural chips, but these neural chips were not like human neurons. She would receive 5 billion neural chips 5 times more than the average human body because every inch of her body is filled within Bio gel. These small neural chips would communicate with the remaining 10 percent of her brain, permitting her to live with a shelf life of 2 or 200 years. That 10 remaining percentage of her brain only powered what she needed to function. Where was her humanity, her life before the accident, her family and friends? Was that lost in the old Jenna's body or was some of that still with her? "Time heals" (Person 7). Mathew Fox did what any parent would do if their child were in the same position. "You are my daughter. You have to know, Jenna, I would do anything to save you. You're my child." (Person 122). When Jenna cut her hand, and discovered that she did not feel the pain for a long time her father was forced to tell her that she was composed of Bio gel. This event affected Matthew because Jenna was already doubtful about whether she was human or not, and this is convincing her that she is not. Additionally, when Jenna woke up, she could hardly recollect her family and this is questioning their relationship as a family. Another outcome that greatly affected Mathew is when Jenna destroyed the backups, because if anything happened to her he could not help her. "There are no screams from the window above me.
