The purpose of this essay is first to explain how physical and psychological pain could affect a patient suffering from osteoporosis. Then how to implement effective pain management strategies and apply them to a case study in which a female patient is suffering from aching associated with rheumatoid arthritis.

One of the theories of the pain is that the brain controls the pain. In that case the system nervous of the brain receives message through nerve sensors in the skin or other tissue organ such as osteophytes that trigger the pain: that is one of the cause of pain for our patient suffering for rheumatoid arthritis in the case study. In the other hand bio psychosocial theory is the gate control theory that was developed by Melzack and Wall (1965) and explained pain as a psychological factor .The gate control theory suggest that neurological gate is present in the spinal cord that can block or could allow pain signal to travel to the brain.
