The Political Science department at Biola does a great job of advertising the American Studies Program. While L.A. has internship opportunities for Political Science students, the options are far more limited than D.C. The department faculty at Biola stresses the importance of gaining real-world experience, particularly in D.C. I am interested in ASP because I am still trying to figure out whether I want to go into law or some area of foreign affairs. I hope that interning will bring valuable insights into either profession, helping me with my future career decisions. Additionally, I love the D.C. area and I am thinking about moving there after Biola; ASP will allow me to get a taste of what D.C. life is like. That passion has fueled my interest in the field of law. I want to be a light to others in the profession and impact the world for Christ whether that be through corporate or criminal law. Since attending Biola and diving into the subject of political science, I've discovered a passion and interest for international relations. While I don't exactly know where God is leading me, I hope to approach any field the same way: to be an example of Christ and demonstrate Christ's love through my work. If that means helping a client seek justice for a wrongdoing, or shine the light of Christ in a profession that makes difficult decisions and has a moral 'grey area' as seen in the intelligence and foreign affairs community.
