This is an example of how culture may shape attraction. It is becoming more and more common to have mixed babies throughout the world “multiracial babies has risen from 1% in 1970 to 10% in 2013” (“Multiracial in America” 2015).Mixed people are being considered more attractive and it may be because of biological predispositions “ Heterozygote advantage explains why people of mixed race are often considered attractive” (“The Biological Rules of Attraction” 2008). When siblings marry each other it is frowned upon because it will increase the likelihood of a baby being born with disorders but mixing races will increase genetic variation. A healthier baby and better reproductive success will result from this greater genetic variation (“The biological rules of Attraction” 2008).
