The relationship between Georgiana and Aylmer is definitely a complicated one. The love for each other I believe is unbalanced and different from both sides. The experts show that Georgina has a deep love for Aylmer and everything that he is, while Aylmer is conflicted because of his background in science. In the beginning, the response towards her birthmark is that it is a charm, but then starts emerging towards a resentment bigger than what Aylmer has. This could be because she values his opinion more than her own, seeing him as a great scientist and a man of wonder. This is shown especially in the excerpts of her wanting to get rid of her birthmark. For example, “Danger is nothing to me; for life, while this hateful mark makes me the object of your horror and disgust.” This shows that this decision was not influenced by herself but is deeply rooted into the way Aylmer was treating her. I believe maybe at some point Aylmer did have a true love for Georgiana, however, science being consistent and unflawed unlike how he saw Georgiana was his
