Sandwiched between a pharmacy and a building for lease located at 752 Fulton W, Grand Rapids, MI 49504; Bitter End is quite the hidden treasure café. October 12, 2015 my two friends and I ordered a banana nut muffin, a spotted owl latte, a breve, and a boba passion fruit tea. Bitter End is just outside of downtown Grand Rapids. Even though it is not rested on a busy highway, if you drive to fast you will most likely miss it. The building is a little run down with broken bricks. The bright yellow sign looks like something that came right out of the 80’s. Bitter End is a typical café that serves a variety of different types of coffee, tea, and smoothies. There is art throughout the entire place, including the bathroom. Music plays softly in the background. They do offer free Wi-Fi that why a majority of the people who are in there are college students who are most likely doing work. There is the occasionally person reading, or friends chatting. The room and tables are quite small which at time can be frustrating, when it gets busy. There are some tables that allow you to sit outside if it gets to crowded inside, but those too fill up fast. The barista, who is there is always very friendly. She will always answer any questions you have about the different items. I think that they could use another worker, though because the line can become quite long at times. They have an extensive signature latte menu, including lattes called malted milk ball, peppermint patty, snickers, and butter rum toffee. The spotted owl that I ordered had toasted marshmallow, hazelnut, and vanilla. My friends and I all really enjoyed it. They offer all there lattes with soy or skim milk, if you would like. They also have amazing organic espresso options. If you are not a coffee person they have jones soda, coke, bubble tea, smoothies, and juices.
