Black Gangster Disciple Nation on the basis of the Del Vikings, the Black Souls, and the West Side Cobras. The Black Gangster Disciples became known as, “a young street organization striving for a place of high recognition and respect in the City of Chicago” (Emery, n.d., p. 11). The symbol of the Black Gangster Disciple Nation stemmed from the three previous gangs just mentioned above. The wars ceased when Larry and David formed together as a unit to phase out the Black Stone Rangers. The goal of the formation was to have a strong faction to control the outlawed drug trade. From this principle, The Gangster Disciple Nation is not a gang but instead they are a family and an organization that is passionate about transforming the community into a positive place for the youth to grow up safely into adulthood. They strived to provide an educational opportunity for them explore, more social development discussions about self-improvement and to always be informed about current events. The Gangster Disciple Nation is one of the largest organizations in the United States of America. This organization was established to the advancement of its members because loyalty is the basis of the organization. They represented themselves as a whole and this was conveyed in a greeting “All for One, One for All” when they came across a member of the group (Street gangs, n.d, p. 1) Within folk nation group, they have their own individual colors and hand signs. The Gangster Disciples are a highly organized street and prison gang. It operates close to a professional military task force. The gang’s territory reaches into Illinois, New Hampshire, New York, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Kansas, Ohio and Colorado (Gangster Disciples, n.d., p.1). They have no alliances with other street and prison gangs. The chain of command comprises of Board of Directors, Governors, Regents, Coordinators and foot soldiers. Even though this gang was established on the streets of Chicago, Illinois, they decided in 1986 to organize a unanimity network inside the prison system. This was triggered after a rival of theirs, the Chief of the Latin Kings started to initiate a novel branch within the American prison system. The new extension quickly spread throughout the state into the central, eastern and southern regions of the federal prison system.
