Source Evaluation Black Lives Matter is an important movement and organization today especially for African American people. There is lots to learn about in this movement such as why it got started, what caused it, who was all involved in the violence, and who started it. It’s important to find the right sources and material for this evaluation. For this particular source evaluation, Xhercis Méndez book titled Which Black Lives Matter? The author recognized some important people and sparked movements. The information throughout his book was very interesting facts. The birth of Black Lives Matter and My Brother’s Keeper was created in 2013 because of the killing of Trayvon Martin. An example that I founded to very interesting was, “President Barack Obama responded to the collective outrage and protest by launching MBK” (Méndez, 97). Which means that Obama, took the feedback from the American people and launched MBK not only for the black community but to help prevent violence in the United States. As stated in the text, “Obama claims that MBK is about introducing a new value system that will redefine who we are as a nation and that will transform liberty, justice, and equality for all into more than rhetoric” (Méndez, 102). With that being said, Obama meant that MBK could help bring African Americans together by having each other’s back through anything.
