George a white man who just happened to show up was watching john polish the brass of the doors he asked john question like how much do you get paid for doing that how long do you work this made john mad because john only herd the voice of the man and he could tell that the man was white and though he was asking about his job so he could take it for himself because that happened often during the time so john angrily turned around and said what do you want and why are you asking me these questions George said he just was talking and not trying to start any trouble john said why are you talking to me white people never talk to me and George said there is a union meeting downtown tonight and john said white folk like you don’t want to help me and George related a story to john where a black friend of his was hung and Georges hands were burned to a crisp by gasoline and setting his hands on fire because they thought Georges friend had raped a white women when john heard this story his anger went away and George gave him a card saying where the meeting would
