In 1968 in Birmingham, England were there resided band members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward of the famous and first ever heavy metal rock bands, Black Sabbath lived in for most of their lives in poor conditions of life as children and teenagers to soon turn what they hated about it into music of which England's working class soon fell in love with due to its contrast from the upbeat theme happy of all the other songs from the 60’s. In the late 60’s it was all about the The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and many other bands and artist that for the most part never wrote anything that was negative or depressing its was all cheerful, but when Black Sabbath came along it all changed. In their song Electric Funeral, they don't have anything nice or good to say but just depressing haunting lyrics with a horrific guitar playing along to it, the opening verse of the song starts of as, Reflex in the sky warn you you're gonna die, Storm coming, you'd better hide from the atomic tide, Flashes in the sky turns houses into sties, Turns people into clay, radiation minds decay.” (Electric). “When Butler was a kid he read science fiction books to escape what he calls the shittest place on earth which later on influenced some of the band's popular songs like Iron Man and The Wizard” (Harrison). These became some of their most noted songs from the band. They like singing and playing these types of songs because of how it relates to their home life, for example lead singer Ozzy Osbourne. “Ozzy Osbourne was in a large family where they were poor with an abundant amount of children with them even lacking clothes and shoes” (Harrison). The other band members lives mostly the same just as their lead singer but differed from one another. With all of their lives and experiences together they made some of the most notable songs like Iron Man, The Wizard, Wicked World, Paranoid, and Rat Salad. Many other major events happened because of Black Sabbath, for example when Ozzy Osbourne went solo for a while to write songs that are even more notable than some of the songs in Black Sabbath like Crazy Train and Mama I'm Coming Home, Which were more lighter themed songs but still at its core a grime theme to it.
