Similar to “Blackboard Day”, we can have a “Google Hangout Day” where the professor can have a live lecture. To ease faculty's’ transition of using technology in the classroom, the technology used should be something that is easily accessible and available for all Fresno State students and faculty. Since all students and faculty have a Gmail account, they are able to use Google Hangout without having to sign for an additional account. “With Hangouts On Air, you can host and broadcast live discussions and performances to the world through your YouTube channel or Google+ Home page. You can also edit and share a copy of the broadcast” (“Get started with Hangouts On Air”). After the live hangout, the video will be uploaded to YouTube automatically. If students aren’t present during the live hangout, they can rewatch the lecture on YouTube. Google Hangout on Air is simple to use. There is a Google+ Help forum with step by step instructions on how to use the program. (“Get started with Hangouts On Air”). Furthermore, the community will have a chance as well to be involved at the workshop and gain a better understanding of the technological advances that have been made over the years. For many teachers and students, technology is not their strong point and they tend to stray away from those courses that require interacting with technology. Many online courses are offered at Fresno State, but many students tend to shy away from them because they are unfamiliar with the technology nowadays. With these workshops, students and faculty will be able to get a grasp on how to use a laptop, iPad, tablet, etc. in their designated courses.
