Blanche is already an insecure outcasted woman in society. She has fallen high off the high class petter stood from her past actions and mistakes. We learn that she no longer can afford the family estate as all of her relatives have passed away leaving her with the payments.

Blanche wears a series of cheap fashionable evening clothes to make herself feel better about her poor life decisions. She presents herself as dainty,frail, insecure and snobby but also incredibly charming to receive male attention as she believes marriage is the only way of life for herself. Stanley has a pure dislike for Blanche as he can see right through her ‘high class’ act. Blanche often says rude comments about the young man, in one instance she refers to him as a “polak”. A ‘polak’ is a derogatory word used for Polish people. Stanley doesn't trust Blanche at all, at first he believes she is cheating Stella and himself out of family inheritance. This causing him to do further research about her past using his coworker Shaw,Shaw travels in and out of Mississippi and is familiar with Blanches history. Upon Stanley find out the real reasons as to why she is staying with Stella and him. He learns the she was let go from her teaching position as she was having sexual infidelity with a student. We also learn the history of her husbands death and the shame she felt when she discovered her husband was no longer satisfied with her. Once Stanley has found out this information he informs Mitch (a young gentlemen who wants to marry Blanche). Mitch is surprised about the information that is being spread. This causes Mitch to change his opinion of Blanche and decides he no longer wants to marry Blanche as she would not be fit to live in the same household as his dying mother and
