By Chase Hubbs Word count:462 Introduction Bleeding kansas, a conflict that took place in the territory of the Louisiana purchase. People fought over slavery in 1854-1861, towns were destroyed and many people were killed. It precluded to the Civil War and the compromise was the Kansas-Nebraska act. Historical context There was conflict in the Kansas Nebraska territories due to slavery. Opposing governments were made in 1855, one government was pro slavery the other was anti slavery. These two parties clashed over slavery. Pro slavery people shipped goods and supplies into the Kansas territory trying to help their side win the conflict.("Bleeding Kansas").
