White blood cells which is also called leukocyte play a very important role in the immune system. White blood cells attack the viruses and bacteria by fighting the infection which tries to harm our body. As stated by Higuera V. (2012), a white blood cells count is a test that measures the number of the white blood cells in the body. The white blood cells count can fluctuate according to our health status. An average normal range for white blood cells is between 4500 and 10000 mcl (Higuera V.,2012). So, if the result of the test was higher or lower than the range, the result is said to be abnormal. A low or high white blood cells count may cause many medical conditions. A high white blood cells count can be described in the term of leukocytosis. There are many conditions that can cause the elevated number of the white blood cells.
