Board of directors play an important role in corporate social responsibility. They volunteer their time in order to help manage and make decisions for non-profit organizations. Board of directors and CSR goes hand in hand because they both have a continuing commitment to contribute to economic development all while improving the quality of life for the workforce, families and the community. Every successful non-profit organization needs to have a committed board of directors in order to satisfy the non-profits mission. There are three non-profit organizations that I personally deal with and they include Junior Achievement, Interise and the Green Bay Packers. Junior Achievement provides business literacy programs to elementary and high school students. They recruit business professionals to teach the programs at the school. They provide a business planning program for small business owners. They supply business owners with various educational tools that are needed as entrepreneurs and a 3 year growth plan in order to grow their small business into a thriving, successful business. Interise focuses on businesses in low income areas all across the nation who normally don’t have access to this type of information. The board of directors are carefully selected and each contribute their expertise to the organization in order to better the students who are taking these classes. Their mission is “to stimulate economic revitalization in lower income communities.
