Growing and expanding one’s business is the key on the road to longevity. Bumps on that road often comes, but it is with perseverance and bravery to pick oneself up and move along, that in the end is what matters most. During my years living in Hawaii, I have had the pleasure to experience many confections from stores all around. One store in particular have set the bar well beyond my initial expectation. Stepping into the store, my first thought was that it was just like any others local businesses around, but with further examination; I realized the character of this store is posted all over its wall. Its rich history in news articles, magazines, awards are plastered on the wall and shared with everyone who enters. From news article praising the desserts, to O Magazine, from Oprah Winfrey putting Bubbies famous assorted mochi ice cream on her O list in 2006. It was as if the entire history can be sorted out just by spending time looking around the store. Aside from the famous mochi ice cream, the cakes menu is nothing, but unique for its rather raunchy name choices. Once I tasted the delightful Mochi Ice Cream, I instantly was able to understand why Bubbies is ever so popular with everyone in Hawaii. The quality of the mochi and the naturally flavoured creamy ice cream filling combining together to create such an exquisite combination that was nothing short of amazing. I can’t praise it enough, it could easily be in my top 5 favourite desserts of all times. “Quality is more important than quantity. One home run is much better than two doubles.” (Steve Jobs.) People come to Bubbies not for its variety in choices of desserts because all they serves here is ice cream, but customers come here for its extraordinarily tasty mochi ice cream.
