Robert George also known as Bobby Seale was a member of the Black Panthers Party. Seale went to school, and joined the U.S. Air Force. Later after being kick out of the U.S. Air Force he went back to school in Oakland, California to finish his education in college. He met Huey Newton in Oakland at a protest. Bobby Seale was born on October 22, 1936 in Dallas, Texas. Seale was the oldest of three siblings. Seale grew up with many different problems, and one was his father. His father was abusive and harsh towards him and the other kids. Seale’s family moved across the country, to California. Taking all there problems with them. He met Huey Newton who was also there protesting with everyone. The two quickly became friends sharing the same beliefs. With Newton's help he started to grow his political ideas, and wanted to share his different beliefs to everyone. Seale once went to one of Malcolm X’s speeches. He admired Malcolm X, and with everything Malcolm X said he started to help people with the racism in Oakland. Bobby Seale and Huey Newton decided to help each other, help everyone else. The two came together to create the Black Panthers, which would later be renamed, and called the Black Panthers Party. Bobby Seale said “You don't fight racism with racism, the best way to fight racism is with solidarity.” Seale broke away from the nonviolent civil rights movement to help create the Black Panthers in 1966. The Panthers became a new voice in the Civil Rights Movement, and they rejected the movement's nonviolent approach. They also wanted to go back to their old teachings. By 1968, Seale decided that the public should know how the Panthers were created, and why were they needed. Seale’s final decision was to write a book. The book was know as Seize the Time: The Story of the Black Panther Party and Huey P.Newton. In 1970 the book was published and the public can access it, and read the contents inside of the book. While he was in jail the Panthers started to move away from there starting goals. “I am not a hoodlum. I'm a community organizer.” Said Bobby Seale. In 1973 he enter the running for being the mayor of Oakland. He didn’t become the mayor, but was very close. He was the second out of the other candidates, trying to also become the mayor. Seale became stressed out and bored of politics so decided that he would go back to what he wanted to do when he was younger. He became a writer.
