An Unfortunate Victim: Media Found Innocent Body image issues are considered as feelings that a person or persons have about their own body and have an unbalanced way of dealing with these emotions. Body image issues are no matter to be dealt with a humorous standpoint. There are many diagnosed cases of body image dilemmas that have led to serious disorders such as anorexia and obesity. Obviously this is a major issues, but with conflicts as large as these come with improper blame being placed on easy targets. One such target being the media and social media outlets. And models who do inappropriate actions to stay physically attractive is to be frowned upon, many would agree, but for a model to be attractive and do what their profession asks them to do, that should not be frowned upon. Another point to make is that Television shows that show teenagers having body image disorders are not usually glorifying the fact that these children have said disorders. Most programs display how these disorders are unhealthy and direct them into a more progressive way. An article from IBT media inc. states that the eating disorder named anorexia is not to be blamed on the media. A poll taken place shows that almost 60% of people feel that the claim media is the main cause for eating disorders is over exaggerated and shouldn’t be taken with as serious of consideration and taken more light heartedly due to the fact that there isn’t much scientific standpoint behind said statements.
