Recently, I’ve noticed that you’ve been trying some different diet techniques to loose weight so as your friend, I’m here to share with you different aspects and variables that can effect your weight to help you with what seems to be a body image problem. Body image is the way that we see our own bodies. There are many factors that body image is based off of; such as reactions by others to your appearance, comparing yourself with others and other cultural ideals, physical characteristics, family, authoritative figures and the media. Do you know what controls metabolism? Metabolism is controlled by thyroid hormones. Thyroid hormones control growth, body heat, the strength of our muscles, appetite, and the health of our main organs (heart, brain, kidneys, and reproductive system). The only cells that absorb iodine are the Thyroid cells. If someone does have a problem with their weight and they are trying to loose weight, they should consider the homeostasis of weight, or “energy in, energy out.” Homeostasis is when an organism tries to maintain a balanced internal condition (keep everything balanced and healthy). This concept of “energy in, energy out” is fairly easy to understand. In a whole, it means that to maintain your current weight, you are supposed to exercise off the amount of excess calories that you take in.
