Listening Log 5-Part 2-Bohemian Rhapsody: Brief Description: The song, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, by Queen is a beautiful song. I am truly in love with song mostly because my cousin is such a big fan and that’s all we listen to when we drive in the car with him. Queen consists of four members, Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon. These four artists wrote the song and recorded with the label EMI and released it by October 31st, 1975. This song is a single from the album “A night at the Opera” and has a B-side track of two songs, “I’m in Love with My Car” and “Death on Two Legs”. The genre of this song is Progressive Rock and Heavy Metal. The song has many components and different things that are going on in the song. You first hear a soothing harmony and a piano playing a beautiful piece and then an amazing solo provided by Mercury. We then see that Gibbons go along with the melody and beat that is provided and he creates an opera rock sort of effect. The song truly is set up for a good melody. There is a lot going on after the beginning of the song, and Gibbons really shows the range of his voice and gives the song the rock edge it needs. Overall with the help of the instruments and Gibbons voice it is a good listen for the duration of 6 minutes and 6 seconds. Historical Setting: Overall it’s not surprising that “Bohemian Rhapsody” is well-deserving of its place among the greats. Queen’s biggest experiment ended up as their biggest success. Freddie Mercury is very talented, he created one of the greatest rock songs every to be created and the song shows for it.
