Boo for Cafeteria Food! The question of should schools be able to only sell students healthy food is an arguable question that can go two different ways depending on how you look and think about it. Many people look at this issue differently and have different opinions and views about It than other people might have. Schools should not be allowed to sell only healthy foods to students for various different reasons. First, schools should not be prohibited from selling non-healthy foods to students is it will be a big factor in decreasing the amount of income that the school brings in. Schools are now trying to influence the student’s decisions on what to eat and strongly encouraging them to choose a healthy option so they can keep doing this for when they grow up and can be strong and healthy. According to April Hummel, “it’s not necessarily the changes in the food that are making waves around the school - it’s the fact that the decision of what we should eat and should not eat is being made for us.” So on top of all the other problems that come with this dilemma it also brings out another one. Many students are not having it with the schools only wanting to sell healthy foods because they argue that they have rights and the freedom to purchase and eat what they want and many of the students won’t buy the healthy items if it is up to them. In an interview from high school students Gloria Todd and Joshua Barringer they were asked, “Are you pleased with your schools lunches and if you could change one thing about your schools lunches what would it be?” Gloria’s response was, “I wish we had more choices for our lunch and updated lunch options to change things up because it tends to get repetitive. Most days I am satisfied with my lunch.” Joshua answered, “I am not satisfied with school lunches on most days. I think they should have at least four options of meals to choose from each day.” We can see from this that not every student is pleased with the lunches that schools offer and they want more options than the ones they are
