Boo Radley has never been outside during the day since his parents locked him inside the house. Boo has barely had any social contact whatsoever. If Sherriff Heck arrested Boo and brought him into the public world, Boo would die. Boo would have no idea how to act properly. Everybody would want to come to his trial. Boo could not stand that much attention. Boo would die in public. Why would he have to go to trial you ask me? Well, on an unfortunate night Boo Radley murdered someone (on accident of course). He would not want the sheriff to reveal him. Locked away for most of his life, he could not handle socializing. He has no idea how to act in public. Boo would die if he had to socialize. Possibly, he may react badly and make people think of him in the wrong light despite the fact that he only reacts out of fear. If the sheriff brought him to trial, it would not matter if the jury thought he committed the crime or not. Just going to trial would punish him. He had just tried to save the kids’ lives at the risk of his own no less. He could have stayed inside and let them deal with it but instead he rescued the children. Because he helped the helpless he faces trial for something the sheriff only suspects him of doing. He does not like talking to people or people talking to him and about him.
