Aminata gets sold to a Jewish man named Soloman Lindo in Charles Town, where she learns to read and write openly. Moreover, Aminata meets with Chekura once again, to discover that Soloman Lindo had helped arrange the selling of her child, Mamadu. Aminata confronts Lindo and is taken to New York by Lindo to make remends with her. However, due to riots of the American Revolutionary War, she escapes from Lindo. Moreover, due to her ability to read, write and speak multiple languages, Aminata is hired to record names in the “Book of Negroes”.
Every individual is born with a specific culture and color. Respecting each and every person is society’s duty. Society fails in doing so by treating each individual based on their color. Society has two ways to see a person and that is black and white. Whites are given the higher position and well treatment whereas blacks are treated in an opposite way than whites.
This book shows Amari’s physical and emotional journey. Amari’s physical journey starts when white people kidnap her and 23 others from her village. They were forced into shackles around their necks and ankles, which connected them to one another. After walking day after day like this they made it to Cape Coast where they were separated and pushed into a crowded, unsanitary, dark room. She was later sold, branded and boarded a ship.

He believed the enslavers to be criminals and nothing less. At one point he wished to be a beast so he could get rid of the toughest of being a slave.
