Summary of Novel The novel “Night” by Elie Wiesel is a powerful narrative that tells the story of Elie’s life in his position during the Holocaust. In Romania, the character Moishe the Beadle was introduced. Moishe was a homeless person who taught Elie about the Kabbalah and they studied it together for a while. A few days later, the Jews besides the natives were taken to an unknown place, including Moishe. After an unknown confusion, Moishe is returned to Sighet and tells about what happened during the days of Gestapo but he was ignored because of his insignificance. After a long restless journey to Birkenau, Elie saw the smoke from outside the camp that Mrs. Schächter had been wailing about the entire trip. He witnessed fire pits with burning bodies. Once stepping out of the cattle cars, Elie’s life changed forever. Dr. Mengele, an SS officer separated the men and women including his mother and sister. They were taken to the right and were never seen again while the men including Elie went to the left. He had only his father left. His choice was to stick with his father and not be separated from him. The men along with Elie and his father were put into Auschwitz. During the days in camp, they had a set schedule of meals, roll call, and bed. After a while settling in their barracks, Elie, his father, and other inmates were forced to march with other prisoners to Buna. While in Buna, Elie made a friend while he was in the orchestral block who was a violinist named Juliek. During their time there, Elie, his father, and other prisoners once again had to face selection to determine who …show more content…

After his foot surgery, Elie was told that he had to make a choice to either stay in the infirmary room or to follow the other inmates while they marched on away from the war. With very little energy and an injured foot Elie and his father eventually made it to the next and their last camp. Many died marching in the snow after becoming too feeble and exhausted. Elie barely made it past the gates of the camp while being buried under a heap of bodies and almost suffocated to death. Luckily, he was able to crawl and push his way out. When it turned night, Elie heard music and found his friend Juliek, standing next to the pile of bodies playing a solo concert. It was unknown to how Juliek escaped from suffocation but he was found dead the next
