When brian crashed into the lake his main goal was to find food and survive. His whole personality changed he was all about surviving the most important thing was Surviving not his Mom's Secret. The author of hatchets name is Gary Paulsen.
The novel, Hatchet, about a young boy who was the sole survivor of a plane crash and had to survive in the wilderness, was made into a movie in 1990. The movie is titled A Cry in the Wild and is based off of the plot from the novel. Even though the movie is similar to the book, there are also some differences. One way the book and the movie are similar is they have the same characters. The characters are Brian, his mom, his dad, the pilot, and many other characters.
Three keys to surviving being lost in the wilderness are survival instincts, an axe, and scenes. In Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, thirteen-year-old Brian Robeson used all three after he is the only survivor of a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness. Brian adapts and grows because of his struggle to survive. As a result of the events, he changes from distressed in the beginning, to lonesome yet egotistical in the middle, to floored in the end.
An important event in Hatchet was when Brian made a raft and went out to the plane to get the survival kit. Brain had seen the plane out at the lake after the tornado, and He wanted to go out there and see want was on the plane. He was thinking about it then he remembered that the survival kit was out there so he really wanted to go and get it, but something bad happened. When he got out there he was hitting the side of the plane (which was very easy), but he dropped his hatchet. But he got it, and opened the plane and had seen the dead pilot.
The plane Brian is on is also carrying drilling equipment and, Brian remembers, a "survival pack" that holds supplies in case the plane has to make an emergency landing. The pilot was rubbing his arm, and there was a smell.
I think Hatchet tells the story better. Because it gave more details for example ,when Brian found blueberries you can could imagine him crushing, them with his teeth and swallowing the sweet juice. In A Cry In A Wild he just eats them. And when Brian had a dream of his dad and Terry of fire that was great foreshadowing. In A Cry In The Wild there was no dream not even a Terry.
Brian in Hatchet survives a plane crash and landed in a Canadian Wilderness. He learned to survive on his own and find shelter. He was starting to give up but then he remembered the hatchet his mom gave him.

The Hatchet is written by Gary Paulsen and was published in 1987. It won the Newbery Honor of young adult novel. This book is a novel about surviving in the Canadian wilderness. This book was actually very fun for me, because it was based on a survival alone with only an hatchet. While reading the book it helped me learn more about nature and conquering fears.

In the novel by Gary Paulsen called Hatchet, a teen named Brian Robeson was exactly in that predicament, except for he crash landed in the middle of the Canadian wilderness with nothing but a hatchet that was gifted to him by his mom. Brian had to learn from his mistakes to increase his chances of surviving, and Brian had to change his ways to make things better. Brian figures out many crucial things that will save him in the end, and two of them are the most important in my opinion.
First, Brian uses good survival strategies by using trial and error. He used this strategy well. For example, he started steering the plane up and down to keep it steady. He used trial and error by doing it over and over again until he did it correctly.
All the while, Brian is counting on rescuers showing up at any time. When a rescue plane does fly overhead, though, Brian misses it, seeing it just in time to watch it fade off into the distance. Brian 's reaction, understandably, is not pretty. He was screaming, cursing at god, crying. He was not a happy camper.
The Hatchet is a intense survival story. The main character Brian is trapped in a forest after a bad plane crash. In the story, Brian used three survival strategies to lead him to staying alive in the forest and being able to face any challenges of survival. The strategies used are Trial and Error, Positive Thinking, and Observation. In the next paragraphs I will talk about the three main survival strategies Brian used to survive the forest.
