The author of the novel Hatchet, Gary Paulsen, is known for literature of the wilderness. Gary Paulsen was born on May 17, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is a famous writer for young people around the world. He had published more than 200 books and more than 200 magazines primarily for teenagers. Gary Paulsen created most of his stories on life experiences. The novel Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen talks about a boy named Brian that was in a tragic airplane accident and survives in a island alone with only a hatchet to survive with.
