As Jeannette comes home from her babysitting job, she begins to look for her secret stash of money, “I began looking through all of the junk in the bedroom and finally found oz on the floor. Someone slashed him with a knife and stole all of the money. I knew it was Dad, but at the same time, I couldn’t believe he’d stoop this low.” (Walls 228).
