The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is filled with romance, mystery, betrayal and a look on the American dream. Set in the 1920s, the book starts off with the narrator, Nick Carraway, who moves from Minnesota to New York finding his passion of the bond business. He moves to West Egg on Long Island. Through Nick’s eyes, you see the lives of Jay Gatsby, Daisy, Myrtle, and Tom Buchanan’s lives collide and implode. This book wasn’t very ideal, although it did have some good and bad moments such as, how confusing the plot was, the characters, and the overall thoughts of the book. Scott F. Fitzgerald is an old time writer who uses vocabulary that isn’t commonly used today. Throughout the whole book, the plot was a little harder to read. Nick Carraway, the narrator of the book was not born or bred on the East Coast . His cousin, Daisy Buchanan, lived out East. His position took him to the East and allowed him to rekindle his relationship with his cousin, Daisy. Nick was fascinated by the lifestyle of the wealthy people that revolved around his cousin. During the course of the novel Nick comes to realize that all that glitters is not gold. By the end of the novel, Nick is disenchanted and moves back to the West Coast, where he belongs. Jay Gatsby, born as Jimmy Gatz he always wanted his whole life he knew he was meant for greater things. His intelligence and entrepreneurial spirit was going to move his to a higher social class. When he had been in the military and had meant a young Daisy he knew that in order to be with her, he had to achieve, great wealth. Over the next few years, he
