Nick lives in a small house that he is renting in West Egg, Long Island. On the other side of Long Island live his cousin Daisy, her husband Tom and their friend Jordan. Tom takes Nick to meet his mistress, Myrtle, who lives in Queens. After meeting up, the trio goes to Manhattan, where Myrtle is holding a party. The party ends when Tom gets mad at Myrtle for bringing up Daisy in their conversations. Tom ends up breaking Myrtle's nose. Back in West Egg, Nick meets his neighbour, Jay Gatsby, a mysterious man who throws parties at his mansion every weekend. Later in the book, Nick and Jordan fall in love and begin dating. Soon after they begin dating, Jordan tells Nick that Gatsby and Daisy used to be in love before Gatsby was sent to serve the country in the First World War. …show more content…

Daisy and Gatsby start having an affair. After a while, Daisy decides to tell Tom that she is leaving him for Gatsby. Daisy plans it so that Nick, Jordan, Gatsby, Tom and herself have lunch in Manhattan to reveal the news to Tom. When Gatsby reveals the news to Tom, Tom says that Gatsby is a criminal and is involved in illegal trade. When this is stated, Gatsby tells Daisy to tell Tom that she doesn't love Tom, but loves Gatsby instead. However, Daisy is unable to say this because she loves Tom, breaking Gatsby's heart. The same night, Daisy and Gatsby go home together, with Daisy driving the car. When they pass by Myrtle's gas station, Myrtle runs out to see the car, thinking it was Tom driving. Daisy pays no attention to her and runs Myrtle over, killing her. Daisy then drives off without stopping. Tom tells Myrtle's husband, George, that the car belongs to Gatsby. Wilson, then, thought that Gatsby may have been in love with Myrtle as well. The same night, Gatsby takes the blame for the accident. The next day, George kills Gatsby and then commits
