Night is a book that is based off the true story of Elie Wiesel living his life through the holocaust. The book is written in first person as Elie lives through the horror of World War ll. Elie was only twelve years old when World War ll and the holocaust started. Elie and his family lived in a small house in the town of Sighet, Romania. He was a very smart kid and was engaged in Jewish mysticism. Elie was lucky enough to have a teacher at the time, his name was Moshe the Beadle. Moshe the Beadle taught every little thing about Jewish mysticism to Elie. Elie was very fortunate to have a teacher in the first place. One night, Moshe the Beadle was sent to a death camp in Auschwitz, Germany. After a week of torture, Moshe the Beadle came back and told Elie and his family that the German Nazis are trying to ruin the quality of people’s lives. …show more content…

The families were put on cattle cars and sent to Auschwitz. Elie and his family were one of the last families that were acquired by the Nazis in the town of Sighet. Elie describes his and his family’s tourtureus ride to Auschwitz. It took three long and slow days to arrive in Auschwitz. It was very hard for the families to survive: they barely had any water to drink, they were starved, and they were crammed into one single car without any room to move. Once the cattle car arrived in Auschwitz, Elie and his family among other families were split into two different places based on if they look like they can work. If they were able to work, the people were sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp. People who were too young, or didn’t look like they could be put to work, were sent to Birkenau, a death camp. Elie and his dad were sent to the concentration camp, and Elie’s mom and three sisters were sent to the death camp. They never got to see eachother
